Dog flaps are an often overlooked necessity. A godsend for owners that work long hours so that their dog can have the freedom to toilet outside etc.
CHECK your dog can get in and out with ease……….
CHECK they don’t hit their limbs or bash their shoulders
CHECK if the floor either side is safe and the height from the floor is achievable and non slippery
Flooring flooring flooring…….
Flooring around chairs and sofas where your dog is likely to sleep…
Getting up after sleeping they are likely to be stiff and less well coordinated….. Don’t allow the surface they jump down onto to be hazardous!!!!
Bedding…..
Have a big enough bed to stretch out. Firm beds that don’t sink are less challenging to balance for the older dog. Orthopedic or memory foam beds offer comfort and support.
Place the bed away from access areas and drafts. Often slightly raised beds can offer a warmer comfortable environment.
